What comes to your mind when you think of watches? Some may think of a basic item that can tell time with battery-powered movements. But those who are more knowledgeable in the realm of timepieces may think of complex devices, that can mechanically keep time, with handmade parts and high-quality designs.
With that mindset, it would be hard to imagine that you can find some quality watches for under $50. But you can! I will walk you through the best watches under 50!
Now let it be known, there will be no Rolex watches on the review. There will be five watches that are awesome picks for the price point and will make great gifts for children, teens, and even adults. Especially the Casio Duro Dive Watch, which is my number one pick!

Casio Duro “Dive Watch”
Finding a dive watch below a few thousand is a big feat. So finding the Duro Dive Watch under $50, from a trusted watchmaker like Casio, is literally a STEAL!
This is one of the most durable watches that you can purchase from this list. It has a dive watch grade, for 90% less than a typical dive watch. Do not let the low price keep you from looking at this piece, it is a GREAT value and definitely worth every penny.
Aesthetics of the Duro include a large 44mm stainless steel case, a protective mineral crystal, unidirectional ceramic bezel insert, and a comfortable and durable resin band. All around this watch has great parts and features that are not typically found on watches in this price range.
If you look up the meaning of the phrase “bang for your buck”, do not be surprised if you see the Casio Duro used as an example. For the quality and durability of the piece, there is literally no better value for the price. This is a watch that you can use for sporting activities, casual wear, and even some business attire.
You are the final judge, but be sure not to overlook this masterpiece!
- 200 Meter water resistance (suitable for diving)
- Classic diver watch design, with large stainless steel case
- Extremely durable
Timex Weekender 40
Timex is another well-known brand in the realm of watches. The Weekender 40 is no exception, it is an excellent timepiece that has a great look to it.
First off, blue dial’s are awesome. The blue dial gives a watch a look that is different than the “normal” black or white dial.
The Timex Weekender, features the deep blue dial, with a 40mm, brass case. A light brown leather strap offers a perfect contrast to the blue dial. Thin, comfortable, and stylish; you can count on the Weekender for any formal outing or a casual day out with some friends.
Inexpensive Dress Watch
The Weekender offers owners everything that is needed in a dress watch. A nice, clean design, a genuine leather strap, and comfort on the wrist. A plus, is the quartz movement is quite accurate, and for a battery-powered timepiece, it is reliable as can be.
Current owners boast about the Timex Weekenders’ light feel and easy readability. It is a watch that can take some wear and tear but should not be worn for sports or swimming, despite the 30m water resistance. Use the watch for what it is meant for; wearing to add some pizazz to your outfit (I never used that word before in my life).
- Leather strap with quick-release spring bars (easily change straps)
- Blue, luminescent dial
- Analog, quartz movement (keeps time well)
The Casio G-Shock is a great watch for athletes, fitness instructors and for the everyday person who wants more than just timekeeping on their watch. Many G-shocks are well over the $50 price point. So to see that the classic is below that is an outstanding discovery!
One thing is for sure. When you buy a G-shock, you know you are getting a durable watch. These timepieces are known for robust, rugged builds that can withstand almost any daily wear and tear. The G-shock Classic is shock resistant, has water resistance up to 200 meters, a strong resin band as well as a resin bezel for increased protection.
*Quick fact: Are you aware that the G-shock classic gained popularity when the watch took an intense slap shot from a professional hockey player and was completely fine afterwards…. Talk about durability! Here’s the commercial:
The design of the watch is as follows: all-black coloring, 45mm oval case, and a digital grey dial color. Nothing flashy about this G-shock at all. It is a sporty or casual watch that is meant for
Features Other Than Only Timekeeping
So the G-shock Classic is a watch. But it does more than just slowly tick around, keeping the time with its quartz movement. Other unique features include a backlight function with afterglow, multi-function alarm, stopwatch, yearly calendar synced until the year 2039, and an hourly update signal.
This is a watch that can make sure you are on top of ANYTHING! It will not let you down and sure as heck will not break on you (unless you physically try to do so).
- Rugged design, UNIMAGINABLE durability
- Digital features (stopwatch, hourly updates etc)
- Easy use with a full digital view
Burei Men’s Minimalist Watch
Nothing is wrong with minimalism. Especially when it comes to watches. Sometimes when a watch is simple, with not many features and clutter inside of the dial, it truly is better. Like this Burei Men’s Minimalist Watch.
Although it is a simple watch, it does come in many different colors. That is so you can find the perfect color to suit your minimalist lifestyle, You can choose between an all-black, all silver or white and black design. To keep things simple, my focus will be on the black and white Burei.
No matter what colorway you decide to purchase, all of the physical aesthetics remain the same. The watches come in a 41mm stainless steel case, with a mineral crystal protecting the dial. The dial features a small date window, and plain tick marks to represent every hour and minute of the day.
The Milanese mesh, stainless steel band is an interesting addition to the Burei. It adds a clean look that is a noticeable difference from other classic watches. Because the watch is so simple and elegant, it is easy to pair with any outfit. The Burei does not have a specific class of “dress watch” or “sports watch”. It is a watch that can be worn with ANYTHING.
Simple, but Desirable
Many watches go over the top with their designs. Burei kept it classic, with a few slight changes to the average watch, to bring you a handsome, affordable and comfortable watch.
The Burei does NOT have a simple movement. Yes, a contradiction to the meaning behind the watch, but trust me it is a good contradiction. A Japanese powered quartz runs this piece. Quartz movements are not typically known for being reliable ( and are not my favorite), but it is not easy to find current owners who are upset with the timekeeping abilities. It is a long-lasting battery, that gets the job done!
- Classic, elegant and slim design
- Durable stainless steel/mesh band
- 30 Meter water resistance
Invicta Men’s Pro Diver
It is time for the last watch of the day. Don’t be upset, if you are still reading on it may be because you are looking for the best watch for you. And the Invicta Pro Diver may be the winner.
Alright, I have to be honest with everybody, This watch may have come in the last place, but probably not for the reason you are thinking. The Invicta Pro Diver is actually one of my favorite watches on today’s list, not just because I own one (BIAS), but because it really is a great timepiece.
The reason I ranked this bad boy last, is because it does not fit in today’s criteria. “Top Watches Under $50.” It is slightly higher.
Now despite that, I DO, believe it is a great contender on the review because it is the ONLY automatic timepiece being reviewed today.
Automatic Movement, Clean Design
The Invicta Pro Diver has a classic design. A perfect sized 40mm stainless steel case. A 3 linked stainless steel bracelet, and an aluminum, black bezel insert. The dial is a nice, clean black, with small tick marks to represent the minutes, and bright, shiny silver “diamond looking” pieces to represent every hour.
Now the bezel WILL get scratches. It is hard to prevent that on this type of bezel. The stainless steel is subject to scratches as well. So it may not be the most durable pick today.
It is a great looking watch. But the true feature that makes it desirable, and different from every other watch on the list today, is the Japanese automatic movement. With proper care, you should not have any trouble with the Pro Diver’s timekeeping abilities. And best of all, no battery changes, EVER.
- Automatic movement
- Water resistance up to 200M
- Classic Dive watch design
